The Impact Grant is a program created by The Supporting Act Foundation following extensive research into alternative philanthropic approaches and the challenges facing emerging artists in Europe. One important learning is that reducing financial uncertainty for artist-led organizations can be a key factor in driving long-term systemic change, building stronger communities, and creating positive impacts across the arts.
As a result of these findings, we are offering 12 unrestricted grants to underfunded grassroots organizations with community-driven approaches towards using arts for social change, and in particular those offering support to emerging artists from under-recognized or marginalized groups.
Each grant amounts to €25,000- per year, awarded over a two-year period from September 2024, and totalling €50,000- per organization. They are intended to help cover operating expenses, or any other costs considered critical to successfully developing activities. Non-financial support will also be offered in the form of access to a network of peers and mentors, as well as promotion on our social channels, and on the social channels and advertising and editorial platforms of our funding partner WeTransfer.
Eligible applications will be assessed by an independent jury of artists and specialists, including a representative of last year’s grantees, on the basis of financial need and the social relevance of each organization’s work and approach. Only non-profits registered in the Netherlands, United Kingdom, Spain, Germany, France, and Italy, or with fiscal sponsors in these countries, are currently eligible. Full details on eligibility, and on the program, are provided in the accompanying guide.
