The Supporting Act Foundation provides 6 unrestricted two-year grants of €25,000 for underfunded grassroots arts organizations that have a community-driven approach to topics related to social, intersectional, and/or environmental justice or offer any kind of support to emerging artists from underrepresented or marginalized groups. This first pilot grant is only available for nonprofits registered in the Netherlands, United Kingdom, Spain, Germany, France and Italy.

This grant program is built on the recommendations that emerged from extensive research on the challenges that emerging artists are facing in Europe and alternative philanthropic approaches, where we learned that reducing the financial uncertainty of artist-led organizations is a key factor for long-term and systemic change. It is also a way of creating conditions for a political, cultural and economic power shift while helping to build stronger communities and having a positive impact across the creative ecosystem.

Beneficiaries from this grant program will receive a grant of €25,000 to help cover their general operations costs or any other costs they consider critical to successfully developing their work. Grants will be awarded for a two-year period, commencing in November 2022.

The applications will be assessed by an independent jury of artists and specialists on the basis of financial need and the social relevance of the organization’s work and approach.
